He has come under fierce attack by Democrats for cutting federal programs via the Department of Government Efficiency. According to Politico, Democrats are “concerned” about their strategy if Musk takes a step back from Politics.Rep. Lori Trahan of Massachusetts, the co-chair of the House Democrats' messaging committee, said, “As long as he’s there using a chainsaw to all the programs that people back home rely on and need to make ends meet, of course we’re going to make him a central character,” quoted Politico. Trahan also added that, “At some point, he will become a liability for the president, and they will sever ties. And we will adjust as we head into the midterms,” as quoted in the report.
While, Rep. Glenn Ivey of Maryland had previously told HuffPost that, “There is some concern in some quarters that Trump’s going to kick him to the curb, and then we spent all this time sort of building this guy up as a focal point, but he’s gone,” quoted the Independent.
Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spokesperson, Viet Shelton pointed out that, “Elon is, and forever will be, an instantly recognizable manifestation of the fact that House Republicans don’t work for the American people, they work for the billionaires,” quoted Politico.
