Long-time Democratic strategist James Carville spoke about his view of the party's members and is concerned about the Democratic party's future.

On a recent appearance on Chris Cuomo's NewsNation show CUOMO, Carville warned that members such as Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and other progressives who have argued the Democratic Party needs radical change to beat Republicans in coming elections, reported The Hill.

Carville said, “Bernie has run for president twice, he’s lost twice, AOC and her kind … they want to run against other Democrats,” quoted The Hill. He asserted that, “They don’t want to run against Republicans. When you beat a Republican, come back and see me and I’ll be impressed,” as quoted in the report.


Progressive momentum doesn't impress James Carville

Although the top progressive such as Ocasio-Cortez had been able to gather crowds in rallies and events, particularly on her "Fighting Oligarchy" national tour, but Carville discounted the idea that rallies translates into political support and is against their current messaging strategy, saying, “Democrats are not the problem right now,” as quoted by The Hill.

According to the report, Ocasio-Cortez's tour has sparked speculation about her political future and ambition for higher office.

Carville went to say that, Democratic voters are “trying to tell [Sanders] something” by not nominating him for president and predicted Ocasio-Cortez would fair similarly, reported The Hill.

Is a break-up imminent?

While, Cuomo mentioned that he has “no problem” with more political parties and choices for voters, and said that the current political system is a “binary battle to the bottom,” according to the report.

Carville even went on to recommend that, “Maybe they need to split off from the Democratic Party,” as quoted by The Hill.
