Day of reckoning for Donald Trump's nemesis Liz Cheney

Liz Cheney, United States Representative from Wyoming is fighting a tough contest to save her seat in the US Congress. She is best known for being the Republican resistance to former President Donald Trump.

Cheney is the face of Republicans for an anti-Trump movement. She cemented this position as Jan 6 select committee's vice chair. It seems like this would cost her her political career.

Trump wanted to oust Cheney from Republican and Congress politics since she voted in favor of impeaching Trump. She also refused to stop discussing the dangers that Trump supposedly poses to American democracy and the GOP.


The Wyoming Republicans will choose today whether they want another Republican or Cheney. The most probable is Harriet Hageman, who Trump endorses. Harriet previously was with Cheney and called Trump "xenophobic and racist." However, recently she's been hugging Trump and favoring Trumpism.

It is safe to say that people do not expect a Cheney win. The best hope for her is a non-Republican surge that votes diversely. It has been months since allies of Cheney have been trying to court independents and the Democrats to help her win.

However, in the state where we saw only 117,000 votes in 2018's GOP primary, she would probably require thousands of crossover votes to register a win.

Her main objective seems to be blocking Trump's path to the Oval office. Even if her career is over, she might find ways to stop Trump. She is aware of her situation and is clear-eyed.
