Dave Chappelle Show cancelled at First Avenue, Minneapolis an hour before its start. Find out why
Dave Chappelle Show was cancelled at the last hour at First Avenue, Minneapolis. The show was transferred to the Varsity Theatre. First Avenue took to Twitter to explain everything.

What did First Avenue say about the sudden change in plans?
The First Avenue took to Twitter to explain and apologise for their decision. To announce their cancellation, they took to Twitter to tell the audience.
Their message began with the information that The Dave Chappelle show has been cancelled. It has been moved to the Varsity Theatre. They addressed the message to their staff, the talented artistes and the audience that has always loved 'First Avenue'. They said that they understood the concerns and that they were apologising for this. First Avenue looks to maintain high standards, and this action has let its audience down. The centre is not just a room or a black box filled with people inside; its meaning is beyond words for everyone.
First Avenue is a safe space for everyone, and maintaining that integrity will always be their priority. First Avenue has always given the freedom to all artistes to express their views. Diversity has been an essential part of this centre. If they continue with the show, this integrity will be lost, and the impact will be harmful.
They also said that they know that many people will not like this decision, and any kind of feedback is welcome.
Why was The Dave Chappelle show cancelled?
Chappelle has attracted criticism due to his ongoing offensive jokes on LGBTQ+ people, mainly aiming at transgender people. Chappelle had a Netflix Special called The Closer and, despite all the controversies, was nominated for two Emmys.
Due to the destructive impact of his jokes, some of the staff members of Netflix staged a walkout of the shows. Chappelle had four specials on Netflix before the walkout. One of the leaders, who formed this group of transgender people in staff, was fired for allegedly releasing confidential Netflix data.
A 23-year-old, Isiah Lee, was accused that he tackled the comedian during the Netflix Is A Joke festival. It happened in Los Angeles and in May. Although the clear motive has not been determined yet. Lee said he was not guilty of the four misbehaving charges.
