Daniel Craig was ready to ‘kill off’ James Bond after he potrayed the role for the first time in ‘Casino Royale’, actor reveals

Craig's fifth and last Bond film, 'No Time to Die', was the longest 007 movie ever made, according to reports. The film is said to be 163 minutes long. Meanwhile, Craig also holds the record for playing 007 for the longest time.

Craig, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall, is said to be the shortest actor to essay the role of 007. The previous Bonds all towered past the 6 foot-range.

Craig had confessed that he was afraid of guns. In order to play the secret spy in the Bond franchise, the actor had to overcome his fear, and it was a struggle as he had seen a real-life bullet wound.

Craig was initially reluctant to play Bond. The producers had to 'woo' him to take up the role. Later, his casting as 007 saw a hurdle (almost) for his blonde hair as all previous Bonds had dark hair. But the actor refused to dye his hair.

Craig had been a long-time smoker. Right before the production of 'Casino Royale' in 2006, the actor quit smoking. He later confessed that it has been a ‘constant struggle’ since.

In 2006, Esquire Magazine declared Craig to be the 'Best Dressed Male'. It was the same year he was seen in 'Casino Royale' - his first film from the Bond franchise. Dressed in bespoke suits, he definitely made an impression.

Craig has never been named People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive'. In 2008, he came in a close second, but actor Hugh Jackman bagged the title. Actor Pierce Brosnan, who played James Bond before Craig, was also named the Sexiest Man Alive in 2001.

Craig has been an active rugby player, and was part of the Hoylake Rugby Club in his youth. The avid rugby fan is also a supporter of Liverpool Football Club.

Craig was an aspiring actor and started his journey as a theatre artist. But his journey began in high school when he took part in the production of Romeo and Juliet at the age of 14. Later, he also worked as a waiter to pay his bills while he was with National Youth Theatre.
