Dame Sarr, one of the most highly regarded international basketball prospects, has committed to play for Duke University. The announcement was made on May 22, 2025, as Sarr is expected to join Duke’s men’s basketball team for the upcoming season.

Sarr, originally from Senegal, is considered a versatile player with strong defensive skills and scoring ability. At 6 feet 10 inches tall, he plays the forward and center positions. Scouts praise his athleticism, size, and basketball IQ, calling him a rare talent.

Duke’s head coach Jon Scheyer expressed excitement about the commitment. He said Sarr will bring energy and skill to the team. Scheyer also mentioned that Sarr’s work ethic and potential fit well with Duke’s style of play.

Sarr began his basketball career in Italy, playing for clubs like Basket Oderzo and Orange1 Basket Bassano. At just 16 years old, he signed with FC Barcelona B and became one of the youngest players to appear in Spain’s top basketball league, Liga ACB.
