Two-time Academy Awards winner has spilled the beans on her experience at Oscars.

Dame Emma Thompson has expressed that attending the Oscars has caused her to become "seriously ill" and developed an "allergy to that part of the job." Despite having won two Academy Awards, the 63-year-old actor, renowned for her roles in movies, such as Nanny McPhee and Sense And Sensibility, has found the experience to be detrimental to her well-being.

Dame Emma Thompson shared with the Radio Times her account of attending the prestigious awards ceremony, stating that on both occasions she became seriously unwell. The actor explained that the intense pressure and scrutiny associated with the event were overwhelming for her.

She further elaborated that the Oscars experience was astonishing, and it left her feeling drained and in need of seclusion afterward. She expressed a desire to avoid talking about herself and to retreat to a dark, quiet space.


“I quickly developed a sort of allergy to that part of the job,” spoke Dame Thompson during the interview with Radio Times.

Dame Emma Thompson is the recipient of two Academy Awards, having won the Best Actress award in 1992 for her role in Howards End and the Best Adapted Screenplay award in 1995 for her contribution to Sense And Sensibility.
