‘Dal y Mellt’: Netflix announces the release of first ever Welsh crime thriller series
The first ever Welsh language drama Dal y Mellt which translates as 'Catch The Lightning' is set to release on Netflix. S4C hit crime thriller is about a group of misfits coming together for a heist.

It is an adaptation of the debut novel – dropped as a box by Iwan ‘Iwcs’ Roberts’ set on S4C Clic and BBC iPlayer in October.
The show will be released as six hour-long episodes in April 2023, Netflix has said it will help to promote and preserve the Welsh language through the series.
Netflix’s Benjamin King has said the content made in – and about – Wales ‘travels extremely well’ to worldwide audiences. While talking to the Welsh Affairs Committee at Westminster, he said the UK, Wales has consistently loved our well-known and best shows.
Roberts, an actor, and writer who starred in the Welsh soap opera Pobl y Cwm adapted his novel into a series which released in the autumn of 2022.
There is an increased demand for foreign language shows as Nordic noir's The Killing and The Bridge doing well, while the South Korean series Squid Game took the world by storm when it first launched on Netflix in 2021.
Wales also garnering popularity with Amazon's huge success with the documentary series Welcome To Wrexham.
