The curfew is expected to run from 12:01 a.m - to 6 a.m from Thursday to Monday. The city commissioners will be meeting on Tuesday to discuss the curfew. The curfew covers a specific area on South Beach, and the area is covered with restaurants and bars.
The Mayor informed that they would be asking the people to return home once the clock hits midnight. The officials are also mooting a possibility of extending curfews over next weekend.
The City Manager, Alina Hudak stated that cowards who come to their city behave this way are random people.
The Miami Beach Police Department stated that two women were shot on Monday just a little after 1 a.m. The incident happened in Ocean Drive, which has restaurants and bars in excess. The area attracts a lot of tourists.
At around 12 a.m the day before, three people had to be taken to the hospital due to suffering injuries from gunshots. All the shootings are under investigation. Mid-February saw the start of spring break, and since then, nine officers have faced injuries due to different incidences.
The Police Chief stated that they confiscated 37 firearms in the past three days. He also stated that the number of weapon confiscations has already increased from 85 last year to 100 this year.
Miami is not designed to sustain such large crowds that amass during the spring break. The city officials do not like spring break because of this very reason.
