Critics Choice Awards: “KPop Demon Hunters” receives two nominations as the dream run continues for Netflix animated film; check nominations, date and time of the awards

The dream run continues for “K-Pop Demon Hunters” as the Netflix animated movie bagged two nominations for the 2025 Critics' Choice Awards!. The nominees were announced on December 6, 2025, local time, by the Critics' Choice Association (CCA) for the 31st annual Critics' Choice Awards. The 31st annual Critics Choice Awards will air live on January 4, 2026, from 7 to 10 p.m. ET.

“KPop Demon Hunters” has been nominated for Best Animated Feature. The other films in the category are “Arco,” “Elio,” “In Your Dreams,” “Little Amélie or the Character of Rain,” and “Zootopia 2.”

The film’s hit song “Golden,” sung by the fictional girl group HUNTR/X, is in the running for Best Song. Other nominees in the category include “Drive” (from “F1”), “I Lied to You” (“Sinners”), “Clothed by the Sun” (“The Testament of Ann Lee”), “Train Dreams” (“Train Dreams”), and “The Girl in the Bubble” (“Wicked: For Good”).


“KPop Demon Hunters,” which recently won Best Animated Film at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards, will be hoping to add more awards in their trophy cabinet. The soundtrack of the film has received five nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards. The song “Golden” has stolen the limelight as it bagged the majority of the nominations.

"KPop Demon Hunters" was launched on June 20, 2025, and currently streams on Netflix. The film is produced in partnership with Sony Pictures Animation (Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Mitchells vs. The Machines). It’s directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans and features a script by Danya Jimenez, Hannah McMechan, Kang, and Appelhans. The story comes from Kang.

The film follows the critical success of other works exploring Korean culture and experiences, such as "Parasite," "Squid Game," and "Pachinko." It revolves around group member Rumi, who feels under pressure to hide her secret dual identity as her group battles a boy-band rival made up of demons.
