McEvoy had been operating a bucket truck when he struck an active power line, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. The production had only recently begun filming for 'Kill Me Now' in the New Orleans area earlier this week.
The International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) confirmed the crew member’s death, according to Deadline, but did not release any further details about the incident.
“Today we grieve the loss of one of our fellow members who was killed in a tragic incident on a production shooting in Louisiana," IATSE International President Matt Loeb said in a statement to Deadline.
According to the New York Post, McEvoy worked as a rigging grip on numerous acclaimed films, a role that involves setting up camera and lighting equipment. His IMDb credits include several late-2000s classics, such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
He also served as an executive producer on Whiteness, a historical dramedy currently in post-production, according to the site.
