In a neighborhood once known for its quiet and safety, residents are now on edge after a masked figure was caught on camera under suspicious circumstances. What does the new footage actually show?

According to video obtained by News 4 Tucson, a person wearing a mask and gloves was seen moving through Guthrie’s neighborhood late at night on April 29. The individual arrived in a grey pickup truck, approached a home, and was captured taking plants from the front porch before driving away.

While the act itself may seem minor, the appearance of the individual has sparked concern. The clothing — mask, gloves, and dark attire — closely resembles what authorities have previously associated with the suspected kidnapper, as per a report by The Express.

Why are neighbors so unsettled?

Residents in the Catalina Foothills area have been closely following every development since Guthrie vanished. The new footage has only intensified their fears.

"It is someone walking on your property late at night, uninvited. It might be a small crime, but committing a crime, and it is disturbing,” Jeff Lamie told News 4.

The neighborhood, known for its secluded homes and winding desert roads, has long been considered secure. But incidents like this are beginning to shift that perception.

Could this be connected to the disappearance?

Authorities have not confirmed any direct link between the prowler and Guthrie’s disappearance. However, the similarities in appearance and the presence of a grey vehicle have caught attention.

During the early stages of the investigation, deputies were already searching for a large grey vehicle. Two suspicious vehicles were stopped, and a grey Range Rover was even seized from a nearby garage.

Law enforcement also conducted extensive door-to-door checks, gathering security footage from residents in hopes of tracing the suspect’s movements, as per a report by The Express.

What has the investigation uncovered so far?

Despite significant efforts, the case remains unsolved. Investigators collected multiple items, including at least 16 black gloves, to test for DNA evidence. However, most of those items were later found to have been discarded by search teams themselves, yielding no useful results.

As the investigation approaches its 90th day, officials continue to follow leads, though no suspect has been identified and Guthrie’s whereabouts remain unknown.
