Creed III final trailer out; Michael B Jordan takes on Apollo Creed’s legacy

It appears that Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa was correct in saying that there isn't an easy way out. At least according to the final Creed III trailer's Adonis "Donnie" Creed (Michael B. Jordan). The son of late boxing legend Apollo finally experiences a fever pitch in the film's much-awaited final teaser (Carl Weathers).

With only a few weeks until the third Rocky spin-off movie arrives in theaters, impatient viewers were given one last preview of what is to come. The trailer begins with a scene of Donnie screaming his lungs out at the top of a mountain, underscoring once again the weight that comes with bearing a history like Apollo's. Apollo's famous voice may be heard playing over a picture of his trademark red gloves in the background.




In the video, Apollo states, "The higher you go, the tougher it is." That is life. But Damian "Dame" Andersen (Jonathan Majors), Donnie's boyhood best friend who is now out of jail and seeking to steal the life Donnie has created for himself, is more involved than just Donnie feeling the weight of his crown. Donnie's admission to his partner Bianca (Tessa Thompson) that "when Dame came back, the past came back too" suggests that the former brothers had a complicated past.

If there were any questions about Dame's motivations, Donnie's warning that "Damian may have once had your back, but that's not what he's doing today" clarifies everything. Then, in a typical antagonistic fashion, Dame is shown getting ready for what can only be characterized as a fight by delivering a series of lethal blows. In other recent photos, Donnie is called a "coward and a fake" by Dame, who then cautions him that "just getting started, little brother," is when things really become interesting. Donnie, who is now retired, is seen doubting what Dame is capable of as a result of his threats, which cause him to experience fresh terror.



Donnie is made to learn the lesson his mentor learnt countless times throughout his career—that "it's you versus you"—while exuding a very Rocky-like passion. The stakes have undoubtedly never been greater for Donnie since he has a family to protect and a reputation to preserve as the finest pound-for-pound fighter in the world. With Stallone hanging up his gloves and Jordan taking over the camera to realize his vision, the movie ushers in a new era for the Creed series. In fact, Jordan is eager to maybe develop the Creed world further in the future, so this might just be the beginning.
