Crayola Recall: Thousands of magnet toys pulled for child safety
A recall has been issued for Crayola products that could seriously hurt or even kill children, according to PEOPLE. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on Thursday, Dec. 4 that CreateOn’s Crayola-branded pip-cubes are being recalled because they are “posing an ingestion hazard to children”.

Around 9,400 units of these toys are affected because they have magnetic building cubes that can become loose if the seams separate. The CPSC explained that “when high-powered magnets are swallowed, the ingested magnets can attract to each other, or other metal objects, and become lodged in the digestive system.”

This can cause perforations, twisting or blockage of intestines, blood poisoning, and even death. The recalled sets were sold for around $20 at Michael's Stores across the U.S., and online at Michaels.com and Amazon.com, between May and July, according to the CPSC, cited in the report by PEOPLE.

Recalled Crayola cube details

The affected products came in 24 or 27-piece packs, including “Bold Colors” (red, green, blue, yellow) and “Glitter” packs (purple, pink, blue, green), as listed by the CPSC. Each cube has the brand name “Crayola” printed on the left side, and the model/UPC numbers are printed on the bottom of the product box.

The CPSC advises consumers to “immediately stop using the recalled magnetic building cubes” and return them using a pre-paid label from CreateOn. The company is offering replacement pip-cubes. No injuries have been reported so far in connection with these products, as noted in the report by PEOPLE.
