In a thrilling match, Brazil defeated Colombia and defended their Women's Copa America crown with a 5-4 penalty shootout in the final played on Saturday (August 2, 2025) in Quito. With this victory, Brazil has claimed its ninth continental title. The game ended 4-4 after extra time.

Columbia managed to get a lead thanks to Linda Caicedo, who scored in the 25th minute. For Brazil, Angelina equalized the spot just before halftime. In the second half, Tarciane's own goal put Colombia back in front in the 69th minute, but Amanda Gutierrez found the back of the net in the 80th minute to level the score again.

Mayra Ramirez restored Colombia's lead two minutes from full time, only for Brazil's great Marta to equalize deep into stoppage time and then score again in extra time. Leicy Santos made it 4-4 with a stunning free kick to force a penalty shootout, where Brazil's Lorena saved Carabali's effort to seal the victory.

During the final match, Brazil held possession most of the time with nearly 60 percent, while Colombia had about 40 percent. Brazil hit nine shots on goal, while Colombia managed to hit six.

Before defeating Colombia for the Copa America title, Brazil cruised into the final with dominant scorelines and solid performances. Brazil, led by Marta, passed the final challenge on Saturday against Colombia. Both teams received four yellow cards from the referee each during the match.

Brazil's run has been defined by tactical balance: a disciplined backline, coordinated pressing, sharp execution on set pieces, and exploiting their opponent's defensive miscues.
