Constance Wu attempted suicide, reveals Crazy Rich Asians actress on Twitter
The actress is known for his role in Crazy Rich Asians and was inducted into Time magazine's list of 100 most influential people in 2017.

Wu was referring to the incident in 2019 when she was heavily criticized for her remarks on Twitter about the popular sitcom "Fresh Off the Boat", in which she played the lead role of Jessica.
Following her profane remarks on the sitcom, she was trolled by netizens who called her comments reproachful. Her disparaging comments came after the news of ABS renewing the sitcom ‘Fresh Off the Boat’ for the sixth season. She became so upset that she made degrading remarks adding some expletives. She was also criticized by another Asian-American actress who called her a blight on the Asian-American community.
She revealed in the latest tweet on Thursday that she felt like she didn’t deserve to live anymore and called herself a disgrace to the Asian-American community. The actress further said that after attempting suicide, a friend of hers found her in that fatal condition and escorted her to the emergency room. After the incident, she put her career on hold and left social media to focus more on her mental well-being.
She realized that those posts in 2019 were careless, and she clarified at that time that the renewal of the show had forced her to decline a role in a project she was very passionate about, as scheduling would not permit her to do both projects at the same time.
The comedy sitcom Fresh Off the Boat earned Wu four nominations, while the role of Rachel Chu in Crazy Rich Asians in 2018 got her Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. She has also starred in the crime drama movie Hustler in 2019.
