Conspiracy theorists in recent times, are a key aspect of any high-profile election. They actually begin a trend of misinformation or false-feed that end up becoming a full-blown controversy, aimed at maligning an individual, political party or any person of threat or eminence. They work with a certain motive and do not push back until proven entirely wrong. However, they may again change track and begin working on alternative theories as soon as the initial wave dies down.

According to a New York Times report, there were at least prominently followed X accounts that had shared the controversy around Biden being close to death, while some had already claimed that the reigning President had passed away. The online misinformation around this kept expanding over time and created a narrative that Biden is tool old and unfit to lead the country for a second term.

Biden's news of being terminally ill spread systematically

There were some more accounts on social media platforms, that somehow backed up the conspiracy theories being developed at a political level. These seemed to give an upper hand to Donald Trump, who capitalized on it during the US Presidential Debate 2024, where Biden was simply pushed back, and dominated across the debate. Some are even of the opinion that Joe Biden resigned from his nomination and endorsed Kamala Harris instead, just because of his dismal approach in the US Presidential Debate.

Right-wing personalities joined in on this conspiracy theory fest

There were multiple right-wing personalities who amplified these conspiracy theories, and even changed ground to form new theories, once they were proved wrong in a few instances. These even included Bret Weinstein, an author and podcaster, who also relayed the story around Biden's health.
