Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist, has been given honors and sent home to Arizona. The 31-year-old died at an event in Utah, leaving behind his wife Erika and their two young children. Vice President JD Vance carried his coffin before it was flown to Phoenix on Air Force Two.

How did they get Charlie Kirk's body to Arizona?



On Thursday, Air Force Two flew Kirk's body from Utah to Phoenix. The plane landed just before 5 p.m. local time, with family and friends on board. People saw JD Vance helping to carry the casket on the Salt Lake City tarmac, as per a report by CBS News.

What went down at the event in Utah?

Kirk was shot and killed while giving a speech at an outdoor "Prove Me Wrong" debate at Utah Valley University. Authorities still don't know who the suspect is. At first, his body was taken to a medical examiner's office, where it was prepared for transport, as per a report by CBS News.


Vice President Vance, who said Kirk was a friend, said that Kirk helped shape both the Trump campaign and the administration. Kirk helped start Turning Point USA, which was a big part of organizing pro-Trump events in the past few years.
