Stuart Seldowitz, former National Security Council advisor to ex-US President Barack Obama, has been arrested in New York City on charges related to the harassment of a street vendor. Viral videos captured Seldowitz making Islamophobic remarks against a halal food cart worker in Manhattan.

In a display of solidarity, people gathered outside the vendor's cart, purchasing food to support him. Social media also witnessed an outpouring of tweets backing the harassed man.

A Twitter user reported, "The halal cart was busier than usual yesterday as people from Manhattan came out to support the vendor who had been racially attacked by Stuart Seldowitz, who was arrested last night on charges of hate crimes."

The disturbing footage showed Seldowitz taking pictures of the vendor while making highly offensive comments, including remarks about the deaths of Palestinian children. In another video, he questioned the vendor about his Egyptian heritage.

Following the widespread circulation of these videos, Seldowitz expressed remorse for his actions. He admitted to becoming excessively agitated and acknowledged regrettable statements. Seldowitz conceded that his reaction was excessive and recognized the inappropriateness of insulting the vendor's faith.
