Two US military members were among the courageous individuals, who stopped a fatal gunman in an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado. The assault killed five individuals and injured another 17. Anderson Lee Aldrich, 22, has been identified as the suspected shooter. He faces five counts of first-degree murder and five counts of hate crimes.

Adrian Vasquez, the police chief, commended the heroic deed.

When he realised someone was firing inside Club Q in Colorado Springs, Richard Fierro, an Army veteran, was among those who acted quickly. Fierro dove from the bullets booming out of the AR-15-style semi automatic weapon as soon as he realised the attack was beginning.

He then walked towards the gunman to disarm him, drawing on his expertise as a former army major with three deployments in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. Fierro said that when the gunman shot, he dragged him down while holding his body armour and yelled to another military member, Thomas James of the US Navy, to take the rifle out of their reach.
