Poppi, a soda brand that sells sparkling prebiotic drinks, is paying $8.9 million in a legal settlement. The company was accused of false advertising for saying its drinks were "gut healthy", even though there was no science to prove that.

This became a class action lawsuit, meaning it was filed by a few people on behalf of many customers who may have been misled. Poppi is not admitting they did anything wrong but agreed to the payout to avoid a long legal battle, as per the report by The Sun.

Who can get the money?

Anyone in the U.S. who bought any Poppi drink between January 23, 2020, and July 18, 2025 is included. You can file a claim even if you don’t have a receipt. This makes it easier for more people to be eligible and get money back, as per the reports.

How much can you get?

If you have proof of purchase, here’s how much you could get:

  • $0.75 per can
  • $3 per 4-pack
  • $6 per 8-pack
  • $9 per 12-pack or 15-pack

Proof can be a receipt, digital bill, or bank transaction from when you bought the drink. If you don’t have proof, you can still get money, but only up to $16 total, according to the reports.

How it works

This is a class action settlement, which happens when a company is accused of doing something wrong to a lot of people. Instead of going to court for years, companies often settle to save money and avoid trouble, as per the reports.

People who take the payout usually give up their right to sue the company again. These lawsuits can be about false ads, pollution, discrimination, and more. The money will be shared among all who apply. That means the more people who claim, the smaller each person’s payment will be, according to the report by The Sun.

Important dates

Deadline to file your claim: September 26, 2025. Final court hearing about this settlement: November 20, 2025. If you miss the deadline, you won’t get paid at all. Don’t file a fake claim. It could hurt people who really deserve it, as mentioned in the reports.
