CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer is reportedly set to move from his long standing evening slot on ‘The Situation Room’ to a new and latest morning show alongside Pamela Brown who is the CNN’s chief investigative correspondent, reported Daily Beast.

According to Daily Beast, this massive change is actually part of a broader shakeup at the network which is being aimed at introducing new talent while retaining established figures like Wolf Blitzer. The new show is eventually expected to run for two hours, although it still remains pretty unclear that whether it will keep the ‘Situation Room’ branding or what specific time it will air.

This programming shift might actually lead to the cancellation of Jim Acosta's 10 am show as CNN looks to streamline its lineup amidst declining viewership, asserted Daily Beast. The network's ratings have dropped significantly since US President- elect Donald Trump's re-election with a reported 49 percent decrease since the month of November.

At the same time, other potential changes include moving morning anchor Kasie Hunt from her 5 am slot to a 4 pm show and shifting Jake Tapper's ‘The Lead’ to 5 pm.

The decision to move CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer is actually part of CNN CEO Mark Thompson's strategy to enhance the digital content offerings and adapt to changing viewer preferences, noted Daily Beast. As CNN navigates these transitions, it actually faces severe challenges in retaining its audience and redefining its programming approach.
