The confrontation took place during a Oval Office meeting with El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele, when Collins questioned Trump on the controversy over the wrongful deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident and Salvadoran citizen who was deported mistakenly to El Salvador's infamous mega-prison, Center for Terrorism Confinement (CECOT), as per the New York Post. While, the Trump administration had accused Abrego Garcia to be member of the violent MS-13 gang, but the US Supreme Court directed the White House to “facilitate” his release from the prison on April 10, reported New York Post.On Monday, Collins reminded Trump about the court's order, saying, “You said if the Supreme Court said someone needed to be returned, you’d abide by that,” quoted HuffPost.

The US president, who was visibly agitated cut her off and claimed that he didn’t need to answer her question, as per the report. Trump said, “Why don’t you just say, ‘Isn’t it wonderful that we’re keeping criminals out of our country?’” quoted HuffPost. He went on to say, “That’s why nobody watches you anymore. You have no credibility,” as quoted in the report.Trump had even asked his homeland security adviser Stephen Miller to respond to Collins, while also taking a shot at the network she works at. He told Miller, “Can you just also respond to that question because you know it’s asked by CNN and they always ask it with a slant because they’re totally slanted because they don’t know what’s happening,” quoted New York Post.
