The subject fees are referred to as "authorized positive but unauthorized negative," the suit alleges.
The Virginia-based company, serving more than 200,000 members, has reached an agreement to settle the case in the form of a financial payment to impacted customers, as per the report. However, Apple Federal Credit Union has not admitted its fault through the settlement, reported The Sun.
Who's Eligible for the Settlement?
If you had an Apple Federal Credit Union checking account between January 7, 2021, and March 31, 2024, and were charged overdraft fees within this time frame, you can claim a cash payment, as per The Sun report.You will be paid out according to how much overdraft fees you were charged:
- Those charged $100 or less will receive a proportion of the overall settlement fund.
- Those who were charged over $100 will get the same amount, but not more than $100.
How to Get Your Money?
According to The Sun report, you won't have to fill out a claim form. If you're eligible, you'll get your portion of the settlement automatically, as per the report. The last approval hearing for final approval of the settlement is set for June 17, 2025, reported The Sun.In case you want to opt out, the deadline is April 20, 2025, according to The Sun.
