Chuck Schumer, a Democratic senator and Minority Leader, was hospitalized early Wednesday morning for dehydration. He felt lightheaded while working out at the gym, which caused the hospital visit, as per the report by Daily Beast.

The hospital visit was “out of an abundance of caution,” meaning it was just to be safe. After treatment at the hospital, Schumer returned to work at the Capitol the same day. Washington was very hot, around 95 degrees, when this happened. Schumer’s spokesperson reminded people to drink water and avoid heat, as stated by reports.

Schumer's health and past issues

Chuck Schumer has been in Congress for nearly 45 years, first in the House of Representatives and then as a senator since 1999. He is in his 70s and has had only a few health issues publicly before, including pneumonia in 2018 and COVID-19 in 2020, according to the report by Daily Beast.
