Mississippi may experience its coldest air in the last five years. Forecasters estimate that by Thursday night, Jackson, Mississippi, will experience a temperature dip as low as 13 degrees.

How will other states fare?

Nashville may experience a drop as low as 5 degrees, and predictions of subzero temperatures for the Northern Rockies, the Central and Northern Plains, and the Upper Midwest are floating.

Tuesday's low temperatures in some areas of Montana and North Dakota might drop to minus 30 degrees, which poses a 10-minute risk of frostbite.
