Christmas falls on December 25, every year which is a significant day in the Christian calendar that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem in Judea.

While it might be difficult to locate shops, eateries, or even pharmacies open on December 25 which is on Sunday, this year the same is true on Monday, December 26, when some companies celebrate the holiday.

What you need to know about the Christmas holidays is as follows:



Banks

Banks often close on the holidays set by the American Federal Reserve System, however, they are not compelled to. Sunday will likely see bank branches closed. In commemoration of, Christmas Day, several banks, including Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and Capital One, will be closed once again on Monday, December 26.

Govt Offices

Courts and other non-essential federal, state, and local government facilities are closed on Sunday in observance of the holiday, as well as on Monday when it is honored nationally.


Stock Market

The New York Stock Exchange and other American financial markets will be closed on Sunday. Additionally closed will be Nasdaq Inc.-run exchanges.

In observance of the holiday, they will both be closed on Monday, December 26.

Post

On Christmas Day and the day following, December 26, post offices will be closed, and the USPS won't be delivering mail or shipments.

Grocery Stores

In the United States, most supermarkets are closed, including Walmart. In addition to being closed on Sunday, several of Costco's U.S. warehouses are open as usual on Monday, Dec 26.

Including this, non-retail companies or services as well as public libraries and community centers will be closed on December 25. On federal holidays, you won't get charged for paid street parking and the government also offers reduced services on several lines of public transit, particularly commuting routes.
