On the night of September 1, American stand-up comedian Dave Chappelle took to the stage and harshly judged Will Smith's act of slapping comedian Chris Rock on stage at the Oscars. This act happened in Liverpool, where Dave Chappelle was doing his comedic tour.

What did Dave Chapelle say about Will Smith?

Dave Chappelle's tour has landed in Liverpool, and he was performing at M&S bank arena, Liverpool. He said that most people forget who Will Smith is. A few minutes before Smith was going to get the most prominent award for his career, he acted out like he was back in Philadelphia.

Dave Chapelle continued to say that Will Smith had put up an act of this upstanding and righteous person for thirty years in the industry. That night, his fake persona broke, and his mask came off to show his real side, which was just as bad as the rest of the people present that day.

Chappelle said he was glad to see the real Smith underneath whatever consequences or repercussions he faced. He does not want Will Smith to put his mask back on and be authentic to the world. Dave Chappelle even goes on to say that he sees himself in both the men.

This news was reported by the English news source, The Telegraph. Later, it was confirmed by one of the representatives of Dave Chappelle. The media is now reaching out to Chris Rock and Will Smith to comment on this evaluation.

When did Dave Chappelle make this judgment?

Comedian Dave Chapelle made this stinging assessment in the first three shows of his tour in the United Kingdom. This weekend, the dates for two more of his shows are planned for this weekend which will take place at the London O2 Arena. More dates are scheduled throughout Europe for their tour.

The story of Will Smith's slap in the Academy Awards

When presenting the awards at the Oscars, Chris Rock took himself to mocking Jada Pinkett Smith for her appearance. Rock began by saying that he loves her, followed by GI Jane the second and how he cannot wait to see the movie.

This joke referenced the US war drama of 1997 named GI Jane. Demi Moore had to shave her head to play the role of Jordan O'Neil. O'Neil was the first woman to complete the US Navy training successfully.

Rock implied that Jada could star in the movie's sequel due to her bald head. What Rock did not consider was that Jada deals with a medical condition- Alopecia. It is an autoimmune disorder that impairs hair growth and causes hair loss.

Jada did not like the joke and rolled her eyes, but Will Smith was angry.

Will Smith, enraged and furious, went on to the stage to strike the comedian.

Later, when he went off stage, he yelled at Rock to say that he should keep his wife's name out of his [F-word] mouth.

Rock, however, composed himself and said that this became the most historic night in the Academy Awards history.

People speculated that this might be a publicity stunt as two actors of their stature could most easily fake a slap, but it soon became apparent that this was not a stunt when Will Smith yelled cuss words at Chris Rock.

Chris Rock talked about this incident and said that Will Smith hit him over a foolish joke, and it was one of the nicest ones he ever said.

In July, Will Smith took to Instagram to post a video to apologize for his indecent behavior and how much he regretted his actions.
