Chris Hemsworth to star in 'Transformers' and 'G.I. Joe' crossover? Here’s the truth

Chris Hemsworth is in talks to join a new blockbuster franchise. After playing Thor in Marvel movies and a villain in "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga," he might star in "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" crossover film. This crossover was hinted at in "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" and confirmed at CinemaCon by Paramount.

Plot and cast

As per a report by Variety, The "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" crossover was first hinted at in the film "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts" last year, and Paramount formally confirmed it at CinemaCon this year.

After "Rise of the Beasts," Michael Kelly, star of "House of Cards," plays Agent Burke, a suspicious government agent who encounters Anthony Ramos's character Noah. After using the Autobots to save the world, he gives Noah a business card and reveals that Burke is a member of the elite commando unit known as the G.I. Joes.


Di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto & Don Murphy will produce the crossover, and Steven Spielberg and Hasbro Entertainment will executive produce.

Release date

Considering that Hemsworth already starred in the animated film "Transformers One," this would be his second "Transformers" appearance. In the film, releasing in theatres on September 20, he plays a youthful Optimus Prime from back when he was merely known as Orion Pax.

Noah transforms from a person who is unemployed to someone who lands the best job ever. At the "Rise of the Beasts" premiere, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura told Variety, "It really felt organic to put it in here because you could relate it to the story."
