China-Taiwan tensions escalated dramatically as Beijing released a cartoon showing Taiwan's President Lai Ching-te as a parasite held by chopsticks to be cooked over a flame, reported Daily Mail.

Propaganda Videos and Military Drills Intensify Tensions

The cartoon was one of a series of China's military propaganda videos intended to demonstrate China's military might, as Beijing closes in around Taiwan, as per the report.

The videos depict Chinese warships and fighter jets around Taiwan, and Taipei being aimed at from above, and military vehicles patrolling city streets, reported Daily Mail.


It was released on the Eastern Theatre Command's Weibo, with a poster along with the drills named "Closing In," according to the report.

Video Depicts Taiwan’s President as a Green Cartoon Bug

The poster was followed by a video named "Shell", showing Lai Ching-te as a green cartoon bug spawning parasites across the island, reported Daily Mail.

The video mentioned, "Parasite poisoning Taiwan island. Parasite hollowing Island out. Parasite courting ultimate destruction," as quoted in the report.

PLA Conducts Military Drills Around Taiwan

The Eastern Theatre of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) conducted drills in waters to the north, south and east of Taiwan along with releasing the video on Tuesday, as per the report.

Taiwan's defence ministry claimed that 19 warships surrounded the island in just 24 hours, including the Shandong aircraft carrier group, reported Daily Mail.

Video Showing Sun Wukong

The PLA also posted another video called "Subdue Demons and Vanquish Evils", which featured Sun Wukong, the magical monkey king from the Ming Dynasty epic "Journey to the West" as he was depicted in the "Black Myth: Wukong" video game, Daily Mail reported.

China's Warning

A spokesperson for China's Taiwan Affairs Office, Zhu Fenglian said, "The joint exercise and training conducted by the PLA in the vicinity of Taiwan Island is a resolute punishment for the Lai Ching-Te authorities' rampant 'independence' provocations," quoted Daily Mail.

China claimed that the drill was a "stern warning" against Taiwan's separatism as China considers it as its own territory, according to the report.

The drills followed after US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the US would ensure "credible deterrence" across the Taiwan Strait, reported Daily Mail.
