Chicago weather alert: intense heat continues, but rain and cooldown are on the way

Temperatures are fluctuating from the upper 90s and reaching even 105 degrees today, according to the heat index.

Kaitlyn Cody, a meteorologist from Fox 32, has released an outlook for heat advisory, which is now in effect, until 8 p.m. today.

Key things to keep health in check, is staying hydrated and not stepping outside during the peak hours. Older and vulnerable people need to be supervised at intervals. Keeping pets indoor with fresh water made available is advisable.


What to expect: This evening has a remote chance of seeing a storm or an isolated shower.

Temperatures will be in the upper 70s tonight.

We begin tomorrow with the possibility of storms in the morning, some of which might be gusty. It appears that the storms will begin to move in from the northwest from 4 or 5 a.m.

Storms with highs in the low 90s are predicted to persist into Tuesday.

Next steps: As a cold front passes through Tuesday and Wednesday, we will be waiting for respite.

Tuesday night and Wednesday are stormy, and there's a danger of strong winds once more. Wednesday will see highs of about 80!

Areas with poor drainage, will likely cause localised flooding, to which commuters are advised to keep a check at traffic reports, for speeding up possible congestions on road.

The most lovely weather is arriving to end the week. With sunshine, the highs will only reach the upper 70s on Thursday and Friday.

It will be sunny and in the low 80s this weekend for Lollapalooza.
