A man from Chicago is charged with threatening to harm the Republican nominee for governor of Illinois. According to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, Scott Lennox, 21, reportedly contacted the office of Illinois state senator and Republican candidate for governor Darren Bailey last Friday and left a long message.
According to a bail proposal from the prosecutor's office, Lennox reportedly stated that he intended to skin Darren Bailey while still alive and screamin'. He is also charged with claiming to know where he lives, sleeps, and where his children sleep. According to a document presented in court, the voicemail message said that it's correct he better kill himself and if he doesn't, he was going to murder him.

Caller ID was used to identify Lennox as the caller, and the Illinois Secretary of State Police first spoke with him. Lennox allegedly acknowledged making the call in the court filing. The Illinois Secretary of State Police did not arrest (Lennox) or take him somewhere else for additional interrogation because they determined that he was not a genuine danger. Lennox was ultimately arrested by Illinois State Police after they questioned him and looked at his phone after the case was forwarded to them.
