Chelsea Handler, Jo Koy split ahead of first anniversary. Check out what happened

American comedian and television host Chelsea Handler and Jo Koy have decided to part their ways. On Monday, the 47-year-old former host of the late-night talk show "Chelsea Lately" officially announced her break-up with Jo Koy via her Instagram account. She shared a short video with a caption stating with a heavy heart that the couple has decided it would be better to go their separate ways as it is best for both of them.

According to reports, the people closest to the couple are still hopeful and think their differences are nothing more than a temporary arrangement and the couple will get back together in the future. Their friends hope that they can work out their differences.


In one of her Instagram posts, Handler told her fans that she knew many of them were invested in her and Jo's love story and expressed her gratitude by saying that it meant a lot to them and still does.

She also shared that Jo Koy blew her heart with love, and because of him, her life experiences have changed for the better forever. Handler also added that to be loved by Koy was one of the greatest gifts that she has received in her life. She ended the post and wrote that it would be great if their fans were rooting for them.

When did Handler and Koy start dating?
Almost 20 years ago, a mutual friend introduced them to each other. The dating rumours about the couple first came in September when they were seen together at a Los Angeles Dodgers game. Later, Handler posted about being in love but concealed Koy's identity from the media.

A few days later, Handler shared two cosy pictures, one of which the couple was kissing. In October 2021, she confessed that she had feelings for Jo Koy, a regular guest on her talk show.

The couple had been friends for years and made their relationship official in September 2021. Handler also shared on a podcast about how her almost 18-year-old friendship with Koy turned into something much more.

Why did the couple break-up all of a sudden?
After dating for almost a year, the couple broke up and officially announced it in a recorded Instagram video. The former Chelsea host said this is not the end but another beginning. She further says that she still loves this man and is loved by him. Handler ended the post by writing, "please continue to root for both of us, your person is coming."
