Elliott’s bold move in Turn 1 earned him his 20th career NASCAR Cup Series victory and his first of the season, locking him into the 10-race postseason.
The No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet driver, who remained winless in last 17 races, surged from second with two laps remaining, diving beneath Keselowski’s No. 6 Ford and crossing the finish line 0.168 seconds ahead. It marked just his second win in the past three seasons.
Alex Bowman, Tyler Reddick, and Erik Jones rounded out the top five in a race filled with drama and attrition.
The first race at the track under its new name began with Joey Logano leading a Ford-dominated early stretch. Logano’s No. 22 set the pace for the first 49 laps before the first caution for rain halted action for nearly 15 minutes.
A wreck triggered by Christopher Bell on Lap 57 ended Stage 1 under caution, with Austin Cindric claiming the segment win. But the biggest crash came on Lap 70, when a 23-car pileup - involving Denny Hamlin, Ross Chastain, William Byron, and others - prompted a second red flag.
Stage 2 featured thrilling pack racing, with Reddick narrowly edging Elliott at the line. The final stretch saw 10 cautions total, the last triggered by Justin Haley’s spin with 34 laps left, setting the stage for Elliott’s clutch victory.
