In North Carolina, Charlie Rock, a communications staffer for the Carolina Panthers, was fired for social media posts. He questioned public sympathy for Kirk and shared the Wu-Tang Clan song “Protect Ya Neck,” which some interpreted as referencing Kirk’s fatal neck shot, as per Yahoo News.

In the U.K., Fiona Wild, a councilor in East Lancashire, resigned after posting: “I don't condone violence, but I do think he made himself a target and brought this on himself, so good riddance to not a very nice man!” Burnley Council confirmed her resignation and said it was investigating complaints, as stated by Yahoo News.

In the media, MSNBC parted ways with contributor and political analyst Matthew Dowd after he said on "Katy Tur Reports" that Kirk’s rhetoric contributed to the violence. Dowd and MSNBC later apologized.
