Charlie Kirk best selling song “Charlie” tops U.S. digital song sales
The top-selling song in the United States currently is a tribute to Charlie Kirk. Tom MacDonald’s recently-revealed, simply-called "Charlie" tributes the conservative political commentator, who was murdered while talking at a college event in Utah in mid-September. His passing has been one of the prominent news stories of the year, and MacDonald rapidly turned the program into a song. Its success mirrors the emotions of a major segment of Americans in regard to the tragedy.

Record-Breaking Sales on Digital Song Charts

"Charlie" reaches No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart this week, the list of the top-selling tunes in America. Luminate states that in the past tracking time, the tune sold 17,900 copies—a 167% increase from its primary 6,700 copies sold.

Alongside to the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart, "Charlie" also tops the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and Rap Digital Song Sales charts, gaining the top position for a second consecutive week. The track launched on three other Billboard tallies, getting into the Hot Rap Songs chart at No. 6, the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 12, and the Hot 100 at No. 77.

Niche Audience Drives Chart Success

MacDonald’s fans often propel his hits via individual digital purchases rather than traditional radio play. His releases generally react to current events and fade following an initial period of strong attention.

This week, MacDonald has two songs on the Digital Song Sales chart. His prior single, "The Devil Is a Democrat," slips to No. 14 earlier reaching No. 1. Other tributes also appear, that includes musician Diesel, who launched at No. 4 with "How Dare They (For Charlie)", selling 4,800 copies.

“Charlie” Beats Competing Hits

With 17,900 copies sold, "Charlie" outperforms Netflix’s KPop song "Golden" from Demon Hunters, which sits at No. 2 with 7,100 copies, less than half of MacDonald’s total. The song is easily the best-selling track in America this week.
