According to the New York Post, at least 50 security guards intervened to stop the chaos. Makhachev was set to challenge champion Jack Della Maddalena in the main event for the welterweight title at UFC 322 main event.

The Saturday night brawl brought back memories of the wild scene that unfolded after Khabib Nurmagomedov's win over Conor McGregor at UFC 229, according to CBS Sports. Nurmagomedov's team brawled with McGregor and his team at the end of the fight. Makhachev is a part of Nurmagomedov's team.
