Grammy Award-winning singer Celine Dion had been diagnosed with a rare disease at the end of 2022, following which she had to cancel her tour. The Titanic singer’s older sister Claudette Dion has shared an update on Celine’s life dealing with the disease.

What disease has Celine Dion been diagnosed with?

In December 2022, Celine Dion shared her heartfelt video with her fans on Instagram, in which she revealed that she had been diagnosed with a rare, incurable disease.

The disease is known as the ‘Stiff Person Syndrome’. It is a neurological condition that causes unbearable muscle spasms in the body.

Following the diagnosis, Celine Dion postponed her tour, but she ultimately canceled it. In May 2023, she apologized to her fans for the cancelation.

She said, "It is with tremendous disappointment that we have to announce today the cancellation of the Courage World Tour. I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again."

About her health, she said, "I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%."

Now, Celine Dion’s sister Claudette Dion has a health update on her.

While speaking to the Le Journal de Montréal, published by SheMazing, Claudette Dion said that she gets updates on Celine from their sister Linda, who has moved in with Celine to take care of her.

“When I call her and she’s busy, I speak to my sister Linda who lives with her and tells me that she’s working hard,” said Claudette.

Claudette also said that canceling the tour was the right decision, as Celine “always goes above and beyond, she always tries to be the best and top of her game”, which can be tiring when one is dealing with a disease.

“At one point, your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It’s important to listen to it,” said Claudette.

She also revealed that Celine Dion is “listening to the top researchers in the field of this rare disease” and that the sisters have left the decision of treatment to the singer.

“It’s innate to her, she’s disciplined in every area of her life,” Claudette said, implying that she is determined to find the right treatment for her illness.

“We can’t find any medicine that works, but having hope is important,” said Claudette.
