'Elsbeth' ranked as the second most watched newcomer on the broadcast networks this season. 'Elsbeth' is also CBS’ eighth most-watched non-sports program over its first 35 days across linear and digital.

Encouraged by the success of 'Elsbeth', CBS has officially announced to make its second season, reports 'The Hollywood Reporter'. Featuring Carrie Preston as the protagonist, lawyer-turned-investigator Elsbeth Tascioni, the series averaged about 11 million viewers over five weeks of viewing on CBS, Paramount+ and CBS TV apps. The series also ranked as the second most-watched newcomer on the broadcast networks this season. 'Elsbeth' is also CBS’ eighth most-watched non-sports program over its first 35 days across linear and digital.

CBS praises Robert and Michelle King

In a statement issued Thursday, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reichenbach said, "Executive producers Robert and Michelle King have a stellar track record for creating critically acclaimed series full of unforgettable characters and, alongside showrunner, Jonathan Tolins and his writing team, have developed an incredibly entertaining and engrossing New York City-centric world for the show to explore."

King added, "It’s New York and Elsbeth does say that she was a lawyer in Chicago. But I don’t want to never say never because you never know what will come down the pike. You never know whether you want to use Julianna Margulies as a killer or something."

According to 'Deadline', CBS has also picked up 'The Equalizer', 'NCIS: Hawai’i', 'So Help Me Todd' and 'CSI: Vegas'.

Starring and Executive Produced by Queen Latifah, 'The Equalizer' comes from NBCUniversal’s Universal Television, which is the lead studio, co-producing with CBS Studios. It is one of four drama series Uni TV produces for CBS, along with the FBI series, all of which were recently renewed, the flagship for three seasons.
