US President Donald Trump swiftly shut down the CBP One app that too pretty immediately after his inauguration while effectively canceling nearly 30,000 existing migrant appointments and ending a key former US President Joe Biden era immigration policy, reported The Hill.

According to The Hill, the app which had facilitated legal entry for almost 1 million migrants since primitive parts of the year 2023, at the same time, had also allowed 1,450 daily appointments at eight southwest border ports of entry.

The termination of CBP One app actually marks the beginning of US President Donald Trump's promised immigration crackdown while fulfilling a campaign pledge to restrict the border crossings. It is being noted that the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officially discontinued the functionalities of CBP One App while preventing migrants from scheduling legal entry appointments, asserted The Hill.


This sudden and huge move actually comes as monthly border encounters have already decreased to 96,048 in the month of December with approximately 48,722 presenting at ports of entry.

US President Donald Trump now plans to sign 10 executive orders related to border security while aiming to reinstate policies from his first administration like the ‘Remain in Mexico’ protocol, noted The Hill. Under this previous policy, around 70,000 third country nationals were required to await asylum case results outside the US.
