Cathie Wood declares Bitcoin’s 4-year cycle dead, says institutional money will send BTC vertical
Cathie Wood, CEO of ARK Invest, said live on Fox Business’s Morning with Maria that the traditional 4-year Bitcoin cycle is dead. She believes institutional adoption will soon make Bitcoin go parabolic, meaning a very fast price rise. Wood said we are entering a new era for Bitcoin: less volatility, bigger money, and a very different pattern than before.

The old 4-year cycle used to show Bitcoin correcting heavily every 4 years, with price drops of 75% to 90% during bear markets, as cited by Tradingview. Recently, Bitcoin retraced over 10% and struggled to reclaim key price levels, which made investors nervous. Despite a Q4 2025 correction of over 30% from October highs, Wood said the old rules don’t apply anymore.

Bitcoin institutional adoption

Wood explained that volatility has decreased in recent years, which, along with institutional investors entering Bitcoin, will stop major declines. She highlighted that institutions have “just dipped their toes” in crypto and there is a long way to go for adoption. Bitcoin recently held the $80,000 barrier during the late November correction, showing resilience.

Bitcoin vs gold 2026

Wood expects Bitcoin to outperform gold in 2026, even though gold rose 60% year-to-date as a hedge against geopolitical risks. She explained that gold is more of a risk-off asset, while Bitcoin remains risk-on, meaning it reacts positively to growth and innovation trends, as noted by Tradingview. Wood compared the current moment to the golden age of innovation between the 1980s and late 1990s, when gold declined while technology boomed.

She predicts the world is entering the “AI age”, which could drive a productivity boom and benefit risk-on assets like Bitcoin. Wood believes the U.S. is moving from a rolling recession to a rolling recovery, which could create one of the biggest productivity-driven booms ever.

As of now, Bitcoin is trading at $94,011, up 3.75% in the daily timeframe. Cathie Wood’s comments are a strong signal for investors: when ARK Invest’s CEO says the old cycle is over, you pay attention, as cited on X by Coachty.
