Catherine Tate hints return to the Doctor Who show during This Morning interview

Great news for Doctor Who fans here, as their favourite David Tennant is all set to reprise his popular role for the British sci-fi TV programme's upcoming 60th-anniversary special – and he won't be alone!

The news came from Catherine Tate, who apparently hinted about it during last month's This Morning interview. Moreover, the actor also hinted at her return to Doctor Who.

Catherine Tate appeared on the ITV daytime show as she was promoting her Netflix series Hard Cell. Catherine spilt the beans during a discussion with presenters Josie Gibson and Vernon Kay about as she hinted at going back in time beyond Hard Cell. Then, she was seen smiling cheekily at the camera, saying, 'Ooh.'


The moment was immediately captured on social media, where Doctor Who fans wondered whether Catherine Tate's comment meant a return to the BBC show. Catherine played the role of Donna Noble as David Tennant's companion.

The news was then confirmed when the BBC announced on Sunday (15 May) that the former Time Lord Tennant and Tate are set to return to the series on the occasion of its 60th-anniversary celebrations.

While speaking about the news, the showrunner Russell T Davies said that the return of the duo (Tennant and Tate) to the show is almost impossible as they have already announced a new Doctor and then an old Doctor, accompanied by the fantastic Donna. He jokingly expressed his wonder about how it would be possible.

Then, he also gave some clue that it might be a missing story or a parallel world or a trick or a dream or a flashback.

Now, in order to know which one of these options would be the apt answer for the BBC's popular show can only be known after its release.

Davies will return to take control of Doctor Who on the occasion of its 60th anniversary in 2023.
