Caribbean Music Awards: Nicki Minaj emerges victorious. See complete list of winners

Trinidad and Tobago-born Nicki Minaj snagged an award at the inaugural Caribbean Music Awards held in Brooklyn's Kings Theatre on August 31. Her track "Likkle Miss" with Skeng won Collaboration of the Year (Dancehall/Reggae), featured on her album "Queen Radio: Volume 1".

Nicki Minaj is nominated for six awards, including Artist of the Year and Video of the Year, at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards on September 12.

Machel Montano received the Male Artist of the Year (Soca) award and a Lifetime Achievement Award. Beres Hammond also received the Male Artist of the Year (Reggae) award and the Elite Icon Award. Other double winners were Kabaka Pyramid, Ding Dong and Patrice Roberts.


Reggae legend Buju Banton was honored with a Humanitarian Award for his Buju Banton Foundation's philanthropic efforts.

The event featured performances by Wayne Wonder, Alison Hinds, Jada Kingdom, Dexta Daps, Kranium, Nailah Blackman, Ding Dong, Rupee, Baby Cham, Toni-Ann Singh, Romain Virgo, Angela Hunte and Stone Love. The host was Wyclef Jean, and notable appearances were made by Doug E. Fresh, Skeng, MYA, Spice, Morgan Heritage, Konshens, Karlie Redd, and Michael Rainey Jr.

The Caribbean Music Awards celebrated various forms of Caribbean music, including reggae, dancehall, soca and zouk. The event was livestreamed via Tempo Networks/YouTube and Instagram through @CaribbeanEliteMagazine.
