Carboni stars in Inter Milan's stoppage-time win over Urawa Reds in Club World Cup
Inter Milan secured a dramatic 2-1 victory against Urawa Red Diamonds in the Club World Cup, thanks to Valentin Carboni's stoppage-time goal. Urawa initially led with Ryoma Watanabe's early strike, but Lautaro Martinez equalized in the 78th minute...

Urawa took an early lead in the 11th minute through Ryoma Watanabe, who finished a low cross from Takuro Kaneko in front of a lively crowd at Lumen Field in Seattle.
Inter came close to equalising in the first half when Lautaro Martinez struck the crossbar with a header, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan later squandered a clear chance in the second half.
Eventually, Martinez - who also scored in Inter’s 1-1 draw with Monterrey - leveled the score in the 78th minute with a clever overhead finish from a Nicolo Barella corner.
In the 92nd minute, Carboni, making his first appearance for Inter in over two years and returning from a knee injury, calmly slotted home the winner after a deflected shot fell kindly to him in the box.
The result puts Cristian Chivu’s side in strong contention to reach the last 16, while Urawa Reds, the 2023 Asian Champions League winners, crash out after suffering a second straight defeat.
"It’s a very bad feeling. We’re out now, so our only goal is to fight for one win in our final game," said Urawa coach Maciej Skorza.
