Canada's Wonderland, a popular amusement park, had to be closed after a fire broke out in the premises. Visitors were evacuated from the park and fire services were deployed to control the situation. No injuries or casualties were reported due to the fire, as claimed by the police and fire fighting services. Several guests at the park quickly captured the mishap on video and posted it on social media.
The fire broke out around 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, following the park's Civic Holidays fireworks display. The source of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
According to York Police, they removed the guests from the park as a safety measure due to the prevailing smoke. Additionally, they asked that visitors to stay away from the park's immediate vicinity while fire crews were working there.
Vaughn fire services stated that the pump house and a few water slides were damaged by the fire. Eight pieces of equipment from the fire brigade were used to put out the fire.
The fire broke out on the water slide, and from there, it spread to nearby trees. On Monday, park officials said that the Splash Works area, where the fire broke out, will remain closed for the day. However, the remaining park will open and operate normally.
