Tammy Carvey, a resident of Wyandotte, Michigan, turned to artificial intelligence for a bit of luck, and it paid off. Carvey used ChatGPT to generate her numbers for the September 6 Powerball drawing, and the result was a $100,000 prize.
The winning combination matched four white balls and the red Powerball, earning Carvey a base prize of $50,000. However, she had added the Power Play option to her ticket, which doubled her winnings to $100,000. Initially, Carvey believed she had won $50,000, but upon logging into her Michigan Lottery account, she realized the Power Play had increased her prize. “My husband and I were in total disbelief,” she said.
According to the Michigan Lottery, Carvey mentioned that she only plays Powerball on certain occasions.
“I only play Powerball when the jackpot gets up there, and the jackpot was over $1 billion, so I bought a ticket,” she told lottery officials.
Virginia’s Carrie Edwards also used ChatGPT to pick five Powerball numbers, winning $50,000, which tripled to $150,000 with the Power Play.
