California hit with two earthquakes in one minute, tsunami warning issued

Hollywood was left shaken after California was hit by two earthquakes in just a minute. According to accounts of celebrities and residents, the ground began shaking around 10 am GMT. As per the United States Geological Survey, the first tremor has been measured at around a 4.2 magnitude. Just a few minutes later a second ‘big jolt’ was experienced by the ones in the US.

The magnitude of the second one was 3.5. The epicentre is believed to be at least 45 kilometres from Los Angeles. Several people took to social media to say that they felt the impact with one of them enquiring with followers and asking, “Did you feel that?” before adding that their apartment shook.



A tsunami warning was also issued following the earthquake. The USGS also said that the quake was ‘too small’ to trigger alerts on local cell phones. Taking to Twitter, the officials also said, ‘We know some of you felt shaking and we hope you took a protective action like Drop, Cover, and Hold On’.


The latest quakes follow a 6.4 magnitude earthquake that rocked some northern Californian parts just a week ago. In that natural disaster, at least two people were killed and multiple injuries were reported. The victims were ages 72 and 83 and suffered ‘medical emergencies’ which were not treated by the medics.
