California dares U.S. as Newsom-Trump feud turns ugly - Governor challenges border czar Tom Homan to arrest him

California’s Governor Gavin Newsom says Trump wrongly sent the National Guard to LA without asking. He plans to sue. Newsom also challenged a federal official who threatened to arrest him. The White House hit back, blaming Newsom for the chaos.

ANI
California Governor Gavin Newsom said the state will sue President Trump’s administration. The lawsuit is about Trump using the California National Guard during protests in Los Angeles without Newsom’s permission, as per reports.

Newsom said Trump didn’t follow the rules. By law, the Department of Defense should have coordinated with the governor. But that never happened, according to Newsom. Newsom has used the National Guard before for emergencies, and he says he's fine working with local police if it’s done the right way, according to The Hill report.

Newsom calls Trump illegal

He accused Trump of lying and making things worse, saying the President "lit the match" that caused the chaos. Trump posted on Truth Social that the National Guard had done a “great job,” but Newsom said the troops hadn’t even been deployed yet. Newsom called the situation “Orwellian,” meaning full of lies and cover-ups. He said Trump’s actions were “illegal” and “unconstitutional”, as stated in the reports.

When asked about Tom Homan, the border czar, who said he might arrest Newsom or LA Mayor Karen Bass if they got in the way, Newsom challenged him. Newsom said: “Come after me, arrest me, I don’t give a damn.” He added, “Let’s go.” He called Homan and Trump’s team immature, saying they “need to grow up” and stop “bloviating”, as per the report by The Hill.

White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson defended Trump, saying he had to step in because Newsom failed to stop violence in LA. Jackson also said Newsom was lying, and that everyone saw the “chaos and lawlessness” before Trump acted, as per the report by NewsNation.
