Williams ignited the Soldier Field crowd early, striking on big plays to Rome Odunze for 35 yards and rookie Luther Burden III on a 65-yard flea-flicker bomb. Burden torched the Dallas secondary, finishing with 101 yards on just three catches. By halftime, Chicago had seized control with a 14-3 lead.
The Cowboys, already hampered by star wideout CeeDee Lamb’s ankle injury in the first half, struggled to generate explosive plays. Dak Prescott completed 31 of 40 attempts for 251 yards and a touchdown, but Chicago’s defense clamped down late. Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds was the star, intercepting Prescott twice in the fourth quarter, including one in the end zone to halt a 91-yard Dallas drive.
Chicago’s defense forced three turnovers in the final period, including a strip of running back Javonte Williams, who otherwise averaged 7.6 yards per carry. The Bears’ aggressive approach carried over to offense, as Johnson kept his unit on the field on fourth-and-goal late in the third quarter. Williams rewarded the gamble by rifling his fourth touchdown pass, a dart to DJ Moore, stretching the margin to 31-14.
Dallas (1-2) now returns home to face the Green Bay Packers (2-1). The Bears, though shaky against the run, rode turnovers and Williams’ arm to an emphatic first win of 2025.
