K-pop sensation and BTS singers RM and V have commenced their mandatory military service in accordance with South Korean law, as confirmed by their management agency on Monday. This occurred just a day before their fellow bandmates, Jimin and Jung Kook, were scheduled to begin their military duties. As per HYBE, the management company of BTS, RM and V reported to an army boot camp in the central city of Nonsan to initiate their 18-month compulsory service.

Notably, three other members of BTS—Jin, J-Hope, and Suga—have already been fulfilling their conscription requirements for several months. The entire seven-member group plans to reunite in 2025 once they have completed their military service.

Jin and J-Hope are serving in the army, while Suga has chosen to fulfill his military duty as a social service agent, an alternative form of service.


All able-bodied South Korean men aged 18-28 must serve in the military for about two years, as part of efforts to guard against nuclear-armed North Korea.

A group of fans braved rainy weather on Monday to bid a temporary farewell to the seven-member band's leader, RM, and vocalist V in front of their boot camp in the central city of Nonsan.
